Villa Description
This substantial group of buildings, mellowed by time and by the brilliant Provencal sun, was originally a large mas (farmhouse). There are ancient terracotta floors, walls finished in traditional chaux and mighty beams supporting the upper floors all evoke its rustic origins. Yet within this starkly simple setting you'll find a treasure trove of heirloom antiques and fascinating decorative objects, each with its own story to tell. Statues of various epochs and of various personages have pride of place, while other imposing characters peer down from splendid portraits; priceless hand-painted cabinets and superbly carved mirrors share the space with local olive jars that have also survived the centuries. The amenities in this gracious home however, are definitely up to date, with a superbly fitted kitchen, air-conditioning in the bedrooms and stylish bathrooms. Outdoors is an extensive garden awaits you, with terraces and a shaded dining area, fragrant plants and mature trees. Alongside the heated pool is a pool house complete with a summer kitchen and barbecue. How better to spend the time while the coals get glowing than with a game of pétanque on the court nearby? The property is surrounded by 2 acres of beautifully manicured grounds, with terraces, shaded dining areas and several seating areas. The vast living room has plentiful seating, fireplace and doors to the terrace, kitchen-dining area with table for 12 people, library and TV room with fireplace, independent office When you can bear to leave home, you won't have to go far to find other Provencal treasures: historic towns and scenic villages, great local vintages, freshest local foods, bustling markets, arts and artistic events, cycling and hiking (don't miss a stroll around the mysterious cavernous pool of the Fontaine de Vaucluse nearby) The world is all at your doorstep.
