Villas in Alpilles

Situated below the Alpilles hills, this renovated mas boasts a beautiful garden full of roses, lavender and various perfumed plants and flowers. The house is very spacious ( 300m2) and well equipped. The decor varies from room to room: some are full of antiques. A number of doors throughout the house open onto a terrace, including the kitchen door that is used as the main entrance. In front of the terrace lies part of the garden that runs to the foot of the hills. On the right, a large tree gives shade and cool shelter to a glass gazebo used as a summer sitting area. A little further up a stone terrace overlooks the whole of the property. The relaxing sounds from a fountain in the corner and the cicadas living in the nearby pine trees gives rhythm to life in Provence, here and elsewhere. The house is made up of many spaces and levels following one to the other. You get from one terrace to another terrace and, so it seems, from one small house to another small house by a very ingenious internal flow. The terraces are so numerous that they enables the occupants to cohabit without any interference, and the desire for privacy of the owner was such that he built independent access to each room. The garden follows in the same pattern, sometimes in the French style and sometimes in the English style; always charming and harmonious. All is balanced between the water of the ornamental pond, the Tuscany like cypresses and the mulberry tree standing guard over the house! The kitchen is not only beautiful, it is eminently practical. Extremely well equipped with clever storage hidden behind ochre colored original materials, it is the heart of the house. There is an extra electric oven, Microwave, coffee machine, dishwasher, American fridge and an island unit used as a worktop and bar with high stools. The floor is black marble tiles. The ceiling is wooden and the walls painted. A large table fit for numerous guests and designer wicker armchairs are included. The décor is interesting and unusual. There is a large multicolored ceramic tile table. Provision has been made for a 'contemporary' corner by a bay window and from an original designer armchair one can read or dream overlooking the garden which gently slopes towards an ornamental pond and its water lillies surrounded by box trees. In the lower side of the lounge area there are antique pieces of furniture, a fireplace and armchairs on both sides of a sofa upholstered in English fabric. The kitchen and dining room both open onto a spacious hallway which leads to various parts of the house including the lounge area. From the lounge you reach the south facing terrace through a glass door. French windows lead to the swimming pool area next to a terrace sheltered by a flowered pergola furnished with comfortable quality wooden armchairs and table. A little further down, you can reach the library, this room also has its own entrance to an east facing terrace and rockery. The library has blond wood paneling and is very light and comfortable. Books, engravings, sketches and drawings are everywhere on the walls providing ideal material for the mind to travel and enjoy the magic of words and shapes, creating a welcome interlude from the outside world. A large cozy sofa placed in front of a beautiful fireplace gives the final touch to the sense of genuine lifestyle generated by the room.
